PRODUCT DESCRIPTION PRODUCT REVIEWS

High-alloy steels, hot-work steels, self-hardening steels,
high-manganese steels, and nickel alloys are used in hard-facing welding.
The resulting filler metal contains high levels of "Co" (cobalt) and "Mo" (molybdenum)
and exhibits excellent resistance to thermal shocks up to 1000°C, corrosion, pressure, and impact, as well as
metal-to-metal friction (metallic abrasion). It also retains its properties in sulfur-containing environments.
The hardness of the weld bead increases noticeably under impact. Industrial facilities where hot
forging operations and the iron and steel industry are the primary
areas of application. The weld has high resistance to cracking.

Hardness: 32–38 HRC (+20°C)
26–30 HRC (+600°C)
48–50 HRC (post-impact)

– Wear-prone die surfaces of hot forging and deburring presses
– Valve seats
– Hot billet holder jaws
– Hot extrusion press pushers
– Wire drawing guides
– Gas, water, steam, and acid valves
– Gas turbine blades
– Valves and valve seats
– Shafts

A 300°C preheat should be applied to thick-sectioned parts prior to welding.
Interpass temperature must be controlled, and slow cooling must be ensured. In some
applications involving Cr-Ni steels, if necessary, it is beneficial to use a Kobatek 352 electrode for the filler pass. To minimize the porosity formed between the base metal and the weld metal, low current values should be used.
