PRODUCT DESCRIPTION PRODUCT REVIEWS

High-alloy steels, hot-work steels, self-hardening steels,
high-manganese steels, and nickel alloys are used in hard-facing welding.
The resulting filler metal contains a high percentage of "Co" (cobalt) and exhibits excellent resistance to thermal shock up to 800°C, as well as to metal-to-metal friction that occurs in conjunction with corrosion, oxidation, and pressure. The filler metal retains its hardness even at high
operating temperatures. Its high resistance to cavitation wear is another important feature.
The marine and steel industries are the sectors where Kobatek STL 12 is most extensively used.
It is beneficial to use Kobatek 382 or AS P-310R as a buffer.

Hardness: 48–52 HRC (+20°C)
38–40 HRC (+600°C)

– Hot-cutting blades
– Pump shafts operating at high temperatures
– Plastic extrusion screws
– Hot forging and burr-removal dies
– Paper and cardboard cutting blades
– Steam and chemical valve seats
– Ingot (hot billet) holding tips
– Saws used in the wood and lumber industry (by breaking the electrode coating)
– Extrusion rolls

It is recommended to perform the welding in two or more passes. In single-pass applications, the dilution that occurs between the base metal and the weld metal may result in a decrease in hardness and corrosion resistance. During welding,
the electrode should not be moved too rapidly, and thick-walled parts in particular should be preheated to 300°C before the welding process. After welding, the parts should be cooled slowly.
