This is a high-performance, basic-coated stainless steel electrode for joining and filler welding of ferritic-martensitic stainless steels containing 12–14% Cr and 3–4% Ni, heat-resistant stainless steels, and cast steels of this type. The weld metal is martensitic stainless steel. It is used in hydroelectric power plants, turbine blades, components operating in water, steam, and seawater environments, continuous casting rolls, and cavitation-resistant hard-facing applications. It is used with direct current (DC+). For parts thicker than 10 mm, preheating to up to 150°C before welding is recommended, followed by tempering or normalizing plus tempering after welding. It is recommended to apply a buffer layer using a 312 or 307 electrode, particularly in joint welds.
