PATON PRO 270 Electrode Welding Machine
The PATON™ 270 PRO DC 400V power source is designed for manual arc welding with coated electrodes using the “MMA” method, arc welding under shielding gas using the “TIG” method, and semi-automatic arc welding using the “MIG/MAG” method. (as part of a set with an external charger) using direct current (DC).
Each of the above methods allows us to use pulsed current. The VDI 270 PRO welding unit is designed for industrial use, but with additional adjustments, the welder can achieve optimal welding parameters for various tasks. It provides a nearly uninterrupted 70% duty cycle at a nominal current of 270A. By default, the welder is set to optimal values sufficient for most jobs. Detailed settings are available for more demanding jobs, but these require greater skill on the part of the welder. The welding machines can be used for manual arc welding with standard electrodes ranging from 1.6 to 6 mm in diameter and tungsten electrodes, as well as for semi-automatic arc welding with welding wire ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 mm in diameter.
The use of a fully electronic control method in this device eliminates the characteristic shortcomings of multifunctional systems based on analog control systems—which, by definition, are always geared toward a specific method and do not perform optimally in other operating modes for all other methods. In a fully electronic control system, the control system has absolute control over all aspects of the welding process within the limits of its full power, regardless of the method used.
These Professional Series welding machines are protected against the penetration of foreign particles larger than 2.5 mm and against raindrops falling on the vertical surfaces of the welding unit at an angle of no more than 60 degrees. The welding machine is permitted to operate outdoors at temperatures ranging from -25 to +45 ºС. The internal electrical and electronic components of the welding inverter are protected against moisture but are not protected against atmospheric condensation droplets.
A vacuum reduction unit with an on/off option is integrated into this device for the MMA method. When the welding process is complete, the voltage at the welding terminals is reduced to a safe level of 12 V within 0.1 seconds.
Features and benefits:
High-quality welds and welder safety are ensured through additional adjustable functions:
Hot Start function: ensures optimal weld initiation quality and first-class arc ignition—when the arc is ignited, the welding current briefly rises from the set operating level to the optimal level. In some cases (when working with a weak utility grid or generator), this level can be manually adjusted if an appropriate switch is available (as in the “Professional” series). Lowering the “Hot-Start” setting to reduce energy consumption during a weak power supply or increasing it during a strong power supply makes ignition much easier.
“Arc-Force” function: Used to increase the stability of short-arc burning and prevent the electrodes from “sticking.” When a drop of metal detaches from the electrode, the current is automatically increased to a specific level if a suitable switch is available (as in the “Professional” series). By reducing the “arc force” to lower power consumption on a weak grid or increasing it on a strong grid, arc stability is further improved.
Pulsed Welding Function: This function is designed to simplify the control of a welding operation in various spatial welding positions, except for the flat welding position. This function is also used for welding non-ferrous metals. When this function is enabled, the application of a pulsed welding current improves the mixing of molten metals in the weld zone and exerts a driving effect on the transfer of molten metal droplets into the weld pool, thereby enhancing the stability of weld formation and the welding process.
270 PRO PATON™ welding machines are equipped with a stabilization system, allowing them to operate with an aggregate; they also operate at full rated current with a 55 m extension cable and a 2.5 mm diameter.
