Paton StandardMIG-200 Welding Unit – Key Specifications

The Paton StandardMIG-200 is designed for semi-automatic MIG/MAG arc welding, gas-shielded TIG arc welding, and manual DC MMA arc welding, with the option to use the PULSE function.

The “Standard” series is designed for residential and semi-industrial use. The StandardMIG 160 offers a 45% duty cycle at a nominal current of 200 A without any loss in productivity or work quality. Its robust construction and ease of use make working with it a breeze. Despite the welder’s compact size, you can still achieve excellent weld quality. The use of a fully electronic control system in this series eliminates the typical drawbacks of multifunctional systems. The welding parameters are set to optimal values, so you can start working right away. For more advanced jobs, the machine is equipped with additional functions. A feature of the standard PATON™ semi-automatic series is the integrated KZ-2 “EURO” connector—which has become a global standard—as well as a high-quality, hermetically sealed wire feeder.

GASLESS WELDING FUNCTION – SELF-SHIELDED WIRE WELDING

All PATON welding machines are suitable for welding with self-shielded wire. Unlike traditional MIG/MAG welding, this type of welding is performed without shielding gas but requires a special welding wire. The wire generates its own shielding to help protect the welding arc. You can purchase self-shielded wire compatible with PATON welding machines here. 5 kg wire spools are compatible with all wire feeders.

WELDING – INDUCTANCE ADJUSTMENT

Paton Standard and PRO series MIG/MAG welding machines can be soldered using a three-stage inductance adjustment function. Inductance control ensures that arc characteristics are optimized according to the thickness of the workpiece being welded. This function is necessary to adjust the current flow rate while changing the arc voltage. The thinner the component to be welded with MIG/MAG, the higher the inductance should be (soft arc – less melting); for thicker components, the opposite is true (hard arc – more melting).

PULSE FUNCTION IN ALL METHODS

  • In TIG welding, PULSE—full control over the heat penetrating the material—is an excellent feature for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels,
  • PULSE in MMA – easier material transfer from the electrode to the weld pool, higher-quality welded joint,
  • PULSE in MIG/MAG welding – easier separation of metal droplets from the tip of the electrode wire, with the ability to adjust pulse current parameters. MIG pulse welding is useful for welding stainless steel, acid-resistant steel, and aluminum alloys. In addition, pulse welding provides better parameters for CuSi3 welding

KEY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MIG/MAG STANDARD AND PRO SERIES WELDING UNITS

Duty cycle – While Standard Series MIG/MAG welding machines have a 45% duty cycle, the PRO Series has a 70% duty cycle for the same welding current value. Additionally, PRO Series MIG/MAG welding machines achieve a continuous duty cycle at a higher welding current than Standard Series MIG machines.
Wire feeder – The PRO Series features a separate wire feeder capable of handling 15- to 18-kilogram spools. The feeder can be detached from the welder to facilitate welding with other methods, such as MMA or TIG DC. The PRO Series is also available in 2- or 4-spool wire feeder versions. In Standard Series MIG/MAG welding machines, the wire feeder is integrated into the welding unit for a 230 V power supply; it supports a maximum 5 kg spool and always has two spools.
