KOBATEK 543 HARD-FILLER ELECTRODE 4.00 mm × 350, 5 kg package
High-alloy steels, hot-work steels, self-hardening steels,
high-manganese steels, and nickel alloys are used in hard-facing welding.
The resulting filler metal contains a high percentage of "Co" (cobalt) and exhibits excellent resistance to thermal shocks up to 800°C,
as well as to corrosion, oxidation, and metal-to-metal
friction under pressure. The filler metal retains its hardness even at high
operating temperatures. Its high resistance to cavitation wear is another important feature.
The marine industry and the iron and steel industries, where hot cutting operations are frequently performed, are the areas where it is used most extensively. It is beneficial to use Kobatek 352 or Kobatek 382
as a buffer.
Hardness: 40–44 HRC (+20°C)
30–32 HRC (+600°C)
– Hot-cutting blades and tools
– Pump shafts operating at high temperatures
– Plastic extrusion screws
– Hot forging and deburring dies
– Seating surfaces of marine valves
– Ingot holder pointed jaw tips
– Steam valves and chemical valve seats
– Valves
– Wire guides in wire drawing mills
– Cooling grids
It is recommended to perform the process in two or more passes. In single-pass applications, the dilution that occurs between the base metal and the weld metal may result in a decrease in hardness and corrosion resistance. During welding, the electrode should not be moved excessively. Especially for thick-walled parts, a preheat of 300°C should be applied before the welding process, and this temperature should be maintained between passes. After the hard-facing process, the parts should be cooled slowly.
